LUBBOCK, Texas — Former Lady Richmond Raider Basketball standout Jamyia “Juicy” Lindsey officially made her collegiate debut Monday night, taking the floor for North Carolina A&T State University in a tough season-opening matchup against Texas Tech University at United Supermarkets Arena.

For Lindsey, the transition from the gym floors of Rockingham to the bright lights of Division I basketball marked a milestone moment — one that showcased both her potential and poise.

“The moment felt surreal,” Lindsey said this week. “Finally stepping on the court after all the practices and workouts felt great and rewarding. Definitely a step up from high school basketball, but I’m confident in my game and my abilities that everything will eventually slow down for me and I will be fine.”

The Aggies fell 78–40 to the Big 12 Red Raiders, but Lindsey, a true freshman guard, delivered an encouraging first impression. In 15 minutes of action, she tallied three points, four rebounds, one assist, and one steal in her collegiate debut.

Lindsey knocked down her only three-point attempt of the game, showing confidence in her perimeter shot — a skill that made her one of the top offensive threats during her time at Richmond Senior. Her four rebounds, including two on the offensive glass, reflected the same hustle and court awareness that helped define her high school career.

Facing a nationally recognized opponent in a high-intensity environment, Lindsey appeared composed beyond her years. She was active defensively and contributed to second-chance opportunities, all while adjusting to the speed and physicality of the college game.

At Richmond Senior, Lindsey was known for her athleticism, leadership, and scoring ability — helping lead the Lady Raiders to multiple deep playoff runs. The jump to Division I basketball, however, presents a new challenge: faster play, stronger competition, and higher expectations.

North Carolina A&T head coach Tarrell Robinson has emphasized development and depth in the team’s early-season strategy, and Lindsey’s debut fit that mold. While the Aggies struggled offensively against Texas Tech’s full-court pressure, Lindsey’s energy and smart decision-making gave the team positive minutes off the bench.

From the sidelines in Rockingham, her mother said watching her daughter’s hard work pay off has been deeply rewarding.

“It’s a wonderful feeling to see all her hard work and countless hours in the gym turn into a reality,” said Taneika Reader, who also doubled as her Richmond Raider head basketball coach. “I’m excited and looking forward to continuing and watching her growth and development on the collegiate level.”

As she continues to grow within the program, Lindsey’s transition from Richmond County standout to collegiate contributor will be one to watch. The former Lady Raider has already proven she belongs — now, it’s about building consistency and confidence at the next level.

North Carolina A&T (0–1) will look to regroup when it returns home later this week to face UNC Wilmington in its second non-conference contest of the season.

Back home in Richmond County, the Lady Raider community continues to cheer Juicy on as she begins the next chapter of her basketball journey.
